Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a new satellite channel, NaMo TV, has been launched to provide real-time coverage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “exciting election campaign and a lot more fascinating content” to the viewers.

The BJP on Sunday announced the launch of the new television channel with Modi’s picture on its logo.

The channel, which was launched quietly with no information in the public domain about its owners and operators, is available on major DTH platforms—Dish TV, Tata Sky, Siti and Airtel . Interestingly, the TV channel, believed to be an extension of the Prime Minister’s NaMo app, also does not find mention in the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry’s list of permitted satellite television channels.

“Capture the colours of elections. Watch the dance of democracy. Say NaMo again with NaMo TV. Tune in to get real-time coverage of PM Modi’s election campaign and a lot more fascinating content,” the BJP tweeted, announcing the launched of the TV channel.

Modi had launched his official Narendra Modi (NaMo) mobile app in 2015 as “a one-stop destination” for latest news and updates on his activities, as well as the various welfare schemes and programmes launched by his government during the five years that it has been in power.

The NaMo TV will also live telecast political rallies and speeches of Modi.

The channel would also stream compilations of Modi’s past speeches, along with advertisements portraying the success of the five-year regime of the NDA.
