Actor Anushka Shetty, widely regarded as one of the most popular stars in the Telugu film industry. is apparently all set to sign her next big project. According to several reports, 'Devasena' will be seen as the leading lady opposite young hero Naveen Pollishetty in a film backed by UV Creations.
The yet-to-be-titled project will revolve around the bond between a 25-year-old man and middle-aged woman and is set to satisfy the target audience.
Naveen rose to fame with the Hindi film Chhichhore, featuring the late Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead. He found a foothold in Tollywood with the critically-acclaimed movie Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, which revolved around the journey of a detective and clicked with the 'Gen Y' audience. The perception is that working with Anushka may open new avenues for Naveen.
The 'Lady Superstar' has, meanwhile, been maintaining a low profile. She was last seen in the Telugu-Tamil bilingual Nishabdham/Silence, which released on an OTT platform as opposed to theatres. It received largely negative reviews and failed to live up to its expectations. The film had a stellar cast that included Anjali, Geetha Govindam actor Subbaraju, R Madhavan, Hollywood star Michael Madsen and Shalini Pandey.

Anushka was reportedly offered a role in a web series, backed by a leading OTT platform, but turned it down. There were talks of her acting opposite Prabhas in the mythological drama Adipurush but she dismissed the rumours. The film is likely to star Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon as the leading lady opposite 'Darling'.
Naveen, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of the Telugu movie Jathi Ratnalu. The comedy drama has been produced by Nag Ashwin, the director of the blockbuster movie Mahanati, and revolves around the adventures of three bindass young guys. It is slated to hit the screens on March 11.
