File automisation system in MUDA from August 15

Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader has said that file automisation system will be implemented in the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), from August 15.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that the file automisation system will help overcome delay in clearing the applications at MUDA. “File automisation is nothing but an online system to submit an application. Through the system, the applicant will know what stage the application is in and what documents needs to be submitted,” explained the minister.

Software firm

“We have held talks with a software firm to develop the software for the same. The estimated cost is around Rs 7.5 crore,” he said and added that a single window system will be first introduced in MUDA on a pilot basis and later in all the urban development authorities in the state.

Under the proposed system, one can submit applications related to single site approval, layout plan approval online. It will bring in revolutionary changes in the system once implemented. At present, 80 applications are pending for a single site approval in the MUDA.

“To check the lengthy procedure, a single window system will be introduced through the software. People with small sites like 30X40 can apply online by submitting the zonal regulation building plan and get the permission immediately. Once the system accepts the application, it will reach all the 14 concerned departments for verification. Within a week, the concerned will issue approval letter if all the documents are in order,” Khader explained.

He said that if the approval is not given within the stipulated period, then it would be considered deemed and officials would be held responsible in case of any problem arise in the future.

MUDA adalat

The minister said that there are several complaints regarding the functioning of MUDA.

“There are complaints on inordinate delay in clearing the applications and the middlemen menace to get the work done. To find a solution to the problem, MUDA Adalat will be held on August 4 at 9.30 am. The deputy commissioner, the MUDA officials and I will take part in the adalat. Token system will be introduced to listen to the woes of the people and find a solution to the problem,” Khader promised.
