'Govt has created 100 problems in its 100 days'

The leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary took a dig at the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state saying that the state government’s functioning is not lending itself into confidence building in the minds of people.

Addressing media persons at the district BJP office on Thursday, he said that the H D Kumaraswamy-led state government has been boasting about farmers’ loan waiver scheme which is actually not benefiting the farmers. Rs 1 lakh loan waiver to farmers, has only confined to assurances. Not even a penny of the loan waiver amount has reached the banks and due to this, the farmers are not able to avail fresh loan, he charged.

He said fishermen and the members of women self-help groups too have been deprived of loan benefits. The zero per cent loan scheme for women self-help groups has not been implemented so far. Nothing has been done by the government towards waving loans availed by farmers from private banks, he alleged.

Lambasting the chief minister for doing injustice for farmers, Poojary said that the chief minister’s move of featuring himself in advertisements is unjustified as the reality is very much different. “The government has created hundreds of problems during its 100-day tenure,” he ridiculed.

He said that the Congress-JD(S) coalition government is not working successfully. The leaders of both the parties are not complimenting, but are confronting each other. This is also true with former chief minister Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy who are seen avoiding each other in public often. Both the Congress and the JD(S) are playing a drama to retain the power, he criticised.

The Congress party needs to introspect whether it is right on its part to establish ties with JD(S), even after ending up with mere 75 seats, to keep BJP out of power and to prevent Yeddyurappa from becoming the chief minister, he said.

Poojary alleged that the government has not taken sufficient measures to address to the vows of Kodagu flood victims. While people are grieving for their fate, the ministers are visiting Kodagu for merrymaking. The government has been only distributing the relief materials donated by the public, he charged.

Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, BJP district Vice President Ravishankar Mijar and General Secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta were present.
