<p>There is a surge in the number of deportations of Indians from US that was recorded after Trump came into power. </p><p>As per a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/indian-deportations-from-us-double-after-trump-returns-to-office/articleshow/123052105.cms">report </a>by <em>The Times Of India</em>, compared to Biden's term, now on an average at least 8 Indians are deported daily, while the count was around 3 during the Biden administration. </p><p>Trump was elected as the US president for the second term, which was one of the greatest <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/world/us-elections-2024-trump-makes-historic-comeback-wins-presidential-race-after-four-year-gap-3265227">political comebacks </a>in the history of America, four years after an election loss in 2020 that sparked a violent insurrection at the US Capitol.</p>.'They can take their dead economies down together': US President Donald Trump slams India-Russia ties.<p>From January till July, the US deported a total of 1,703 Indian nationals, as informed by the <a href="https://www.mea.gov.in/lok-sabha.htm?dtl/39928/QUESTION_NO_2272_DEPORTATION_OF_INDIAN_NATIONALS_FROM_USA">Ministry of External Affairs</a> (MEA).</p><p>The MEA date showed that 90 per cent deportees were from these five states: 620 from Punjab, 604 from Haryana, 245 from Gujarat, 38 from Uttar Pradesh and 26 from Goa. </p><p>Out of the 1,703 Indians deported this year, 333 were sent via military flights. 231 were deported via Charter flights operated by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)’s Enforcement and Removal Operations; 300 deported through Department of Homeland Security (DHS) charter flights; 72 via commercial flights from Panama; and 767 in commercial flights from USA, the MEA data showed. </p><p>Of the total deportees, 1,562 were men and 141 were women. </p>.<p>The deportations take place only after the Indian nationality of the people are confirmed. The US authorities provide lists of people to be deported and the Indian side then <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/1563-indians-deported-by-us-since-jan-20-3635815">confirms their nationality</a>, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said.</p><p>The deportation of more than 300 Indians in three US military flights earlier this year had triggered a controversy as women and children too were handcuffed.</p><p>After this, India had "strongly registered" its concerns with the US authorities on the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/india-strongly-registered-its-concerns-with-us-authorities-on-treatment-meted-out-to-deportees-govt-3457377">treatment meted out to the deportees</a>, particularly with respect to the use of shackles, especially on women, the Centre told Parliament</p><p>Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh had said this in a written response to a query in the Lok Sabha.</p><p>The treatment meted out to these deportees had kicked a nationwide outcry.</p><p><em>(With PTI inputs)</em></p>
