Almost a month after Subodh Kumar Singh, the in-charge of Syana police station in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district was killed by a mob, the man, who had hit the cop with an axe, was arrested.
According to the police sources, Kalua, who had hit Singh with an axe, was nabbed from the district late on Monday night.
The police said that Singh was trying to persuade the mob to lift the blockade on the main road, when Kalua, who was part of the mob and carried an axe to cut the tree to block the road, hit Singh with the axe.
Singh, who fell after the attack, was then shot dead with his own service revolver by one Prashant Nat, who was already arrested.
Singh was killed when the mob attacked the police outpost following recovery of animal bones from the fields.
Seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence. At least three saffron activists were also among the accused of the killing of the cop, who remained at large and raids were being conducted in different parts of western Uttar Pradesh to nab them.
