<p class="title">The class X and XII board examinations for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students will start from the second half of February in 2019.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The CBSE has decided to advance the schedule of the board examinations to ensure that results are declared on time.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The examinations for both Class X and XII will start with the vocational papers. The examinations for these papers will be held at the respective schools of the students.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The examinations for all core academic subjects such as Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics etc will be held at external examination centres in March.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The subjects for which the examinations will be held in February and March and will be notified on the CBSE website next week,” the CBSE said in a statement on Wednesday evening.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Usually, the CBSE starts board examinations for Class X and XII students in the first week of March every year.</p>.<p class="bodytext">However, it decided to advance the examinations in 2019 in view of a recent judgement by the Delhi High Court. “The high court, in its judgement on July 11, 2018, has directed Delhi University and the CBSE to ensure from the commencing academic year that the results of the CBSE board examinations, including the results of the re-evaluation, are taken into account whilst determining the cut-off date for admission to colleges of the University of Delhi,” the CBSE said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Following the high court's verdict, the CBSE held consultations with the Human Resource Development Ministry and the Delhi University. “After due deliberations, the CBSE has decided that examinations for all skill education (vocational) subjects shall be held in the latter half of February,” board's spokesperson Rama Sharma said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 40 vocational subjects such as Typography and Computer Applications (English), Web applications, Graphics and Office Communication are offered by the CBSE. The number of students opting for the vocational papers is, however, very less.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“There are very few takers of the vocational subjects. It is for this reason, we have decided to start examinations with vocational papers in the second half of February. This slight advancement of date sheet of the board will facilitate slightly earlier declaration of both — the main results and the re-evaluation results, as compared to earlier years,” she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A high powered committee, set up by the board in April this year, had also recommended for advancing the board examinations.</p>
