Chirag Paswan meets J P Nadda; expresses concern over Bihar's law situation

New Delhi: As the battle for Bihar heats up, Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas faction) leader and union minister Chirag Paswan held a meeting with BJP president J P Nadda. Hours later, he took to twitter to express concern about the law and order situation in the state, especially after the shootout in a hospital in Patna.

Earlier this month, Paswan who contested the 2024 LS polls as part of the NDA alliance, had said his party was prepared to field candidates on all 243 seats.

On Wednesday, Paswan made a visit to Nadda. After the meeting, he took to twitter and said that the meeting was on the Bihar polls. “During this meeting, detailed discussions were held on important issues related to the Bihar Legislative Election,” his post read.

On the same day, he also expressed his concern about the Nitish government in the state. “Law and order in Bihar has become a serious concern today. Murders are happening every day, and the morale of criminals is sky-high. The functioning of the police and administration is beyond comprehension,” he posted.

He said that the incident of criminals firing publicly inside Patna’s Paras Hospital, located in a residential area of the city is “proof that criminals are now directly challenging the law and administration”. “The rising criminal cases just before the Bihar Legislative Election are worrisome. It is hoped that the administration will soon take concrete and strict steps to bring law and order back on track,” he further said.

This is the third time this month that he has pointed out the law and order situation in the state; a few days ago, he had posted about the murder of a 60 year old woman. “How many Biharis will be murdered? It is beyond understanding what is the responsibility of Bihar Police,” he had posted.

Chirag has declared that he will contest the elections, and from a general seat. This will be his party’s first assembly elections in the state after he broke away from the parent Lok Janshakti Party. The parent party had contested the Bihar elections across all seats, winning only one seat but incurring significant losses to Nitish’s JDU. Chirag’s faction won two seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
