Nadda says Centre will make all efforts to rehabilitate those displaced by heavy rains in Himachal

He said that while Himachal has received Rs 622 crore from the Centre under the State Disaster Relief Fund, an additional amount of Rs 200 crore will be released on Monday.

After Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused the parliamentarians from the states of not doing enough to underscore the plight of the flood-ravaged state, BJP President J P Nadda, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and former CM Jai Ram Thakur landed in Shimla to take stock of the situation and assured that the Centre will take all steps to rehabilitate the affected.

Nadda said that all the BJP MPs from the state will give their MP fund money to help with the rehabilitation efforts. He said that while Himachal has received Rs 622 crore from the Centre under the State Disaster Relief Fund, an additional amount of Rs 200 crore will be released on Monday.

“A team from the state had come to Himachal to look at the full-scale impact of the disaster in the state, and it has taken its report to the Centre. The state administration of Himachal has also given us several suggestions, on which we will act,” Nadda said.

Nadda also met the family members of those killed in the landslides and also visited the Shiv Temple site destroyed due to heavy rains at Summerhill in Shimla.

Nadda also discussed relief, rescue and rehabilitation work with the local administration in Shimla and Bilaspur. He said that the central government will work towards rebuilding the roads, for the rehabilitation of the people affected and for the reconstruction of buildings.

“The state has received about Rs 2,700 crore under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana. Along with the National Highway, the Central Government is also committed to providing assistance to repair the state highways. 20 teams of SDRF, two teams of ITBP, and 3 helicopter forces are helping in the relief work in Himachal. Lives of more than 1,000 people have been saved with the help of helicopter service,” Nadda said.
