According to press release by the Indian Govt, " On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks."

The national carrier Srilankan Airlines on Thursday said its flights to Lahore have been temporarily suspended.

However, the services to Karachi would be continued as scheduled, the airline said.

The airline runs four weekly flights to Lahore and all those flights are cancelled till further notice. “This is being done in view of the current tensed military situation in the Kashmir region,” sources said.

In a late-night development on Wednesday, Pakistan government closed its airspace for all commercial flights at Lahore and Islamabad airports. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), in a statement, however, said the Karachi airport would remain operational.

The closure of airspace and airports in Pakistan came after India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday hitting nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province of Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

Pakistan army said 31 people were killed and 57 others injured in the Indian missile strikes launched shortly after midnight.

Metal debris was found scattered at some places in a village in Amritsar district on Thursday, with some locals claiming them to be parts of a missile.

Police said the objects can be identified only after an investigation.

The villagers said they found the metal parts in some open fields and houses at Jethuwal village in the district.

No damage was caused to any property, they said.

Upon finding the debris, the locals contacted the police, who further informed the Army.

The Amritsar district administration carried out a blackout drill in the early hours of Thursday, urging residents to remain indoors and not panic.

The drill that began around 1.30 am was the second in the district in three hours. The first one was conducted from 10:30 pm to 11 pm on Wednesday.

Several districts across the country conducted mock drills on Wednesday after the Indian military targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under 'Operation Sindoor' launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The armed forces struck nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.

Pakistan's Punjab province government on Thursday announced the closure of all educational institutions across the province till Sunday, amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

"All educational institutions -- public and private -- will remain closed till May 11," a Punjab government notification said.

The Maryam Nawaz government has also declared an emergency in all hospitals of the province, allocating 50 per cent of the total beds to meet any emergency in the wake of tensions between India and Pakistan.

“In the light of the ongoing escalation between Pakistan and India, the competent authority is pleased to declare a health emergency in all public sector tertiary/teaching hospitals in Punjab and you are directed to remain on emergency high alert with immediate effect,” the Punjab government said in a directive to the health authorities.

The authorities have been directed to ensure availability of sufficient blood bags, along with an updated list of donors, adequate supplies of medicines, IV fluids, vaccines, surgical/disposables/medical devices and gases.

India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday hitting nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

On Thursday, Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said one drone crashed near Lahore and four soldiers sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

An official told PTI that at least four drones hit the Lahore cantonment area.

The armed forces opened fire and played a siren, causing panic among the residents of Lahore's border areas and Defence House Authority, the official added.

The phone conversation came as tensions between India and Pakistan soared significantly following India's Operation Sindoor on early Wednesday and Pakistan's subsequent unsuccessful attempt to attack 15 Indian cities.

US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Rubio emphasised the need for immediate de-escalation.

"He expressed US support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications," Bruce said.

"The secretary reiterated his condolences for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the United States' commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism," she added.

On his phone talk with Kallas, Jaishankar said: "Discussed ongoing developments with EU HRVP @kajakallas."

It was not immediately clear whether any terrorist was hit by the firing. Things will become clear after a thorough search in the area in the morning, officials said.

The infiltration bid came on a day when India neutralised Pakistan military's attempt to hit military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and some other locations with missiles and drones as tensions soared between the two countries amid fears of a wider military conflict.

Thousands of people living near the Line of Control in three border districts of Kashmir have been evacuated following heavy shelling by Pakistani troops.

The people living along the Line of Control in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts have been shifted to bunkers or other locations, officials said. The evacuation started after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked shelling on civilian areas along the LoC in response to the missile strikes carried out by Indian armed forces targeting the terror infrastructure in the neighbouring country. In separate cases, a woman college student living in Pune and a young man in Bhiwandi were arrested on Friday for allegedly posting messages in support of Pakistan on social media.

A Hindu rightwing group had claimed that Khatija Shaikh (19), student of an engineering college in Pune, had posted the slogan "Pakistan Zindabad" among other things on her Instagram account. Following a complaint, a case was registered against her at Kondhwa police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 152 (acts endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India), 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 299 (outraging religious feelings) and 352 (intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace). "She has been arrested and further probe is underway," said Rajkumar Shinde, deputy commissioner of police (zone 5).

In Bhiwandi in Thane district, an 18-year-old youth was arrested on the same charges for allegedly posting content in support of Pakistan on his Instagram profile, said senior inspector Krishnadeo Kharade. (PTI)

India on Friday night repelled fresh drone attacks from Pakistan at 26 locations in the country's north and west including Srinagar airport, as it accused Islamabad of using its civilian planes as a “shield” for its aerial strikes endangering their flights.

As Pakistan targeted several cities for the third consecutive night, this time from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, the government said Islamabad had launched between 300 and 400 Turkish drones across 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek in its failed attempt to target Indian military installations on Thursday night.

"Drones have been sighted at 26 locations ranging from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, along both the International Border and the Line of Control with Pakistan," military officials said. The drone strikes in locations that included airports and airbases have been successfully thwarted, they added.

 No direct communication has occurred between India and Pakistan amid the ongoing tensions between the two neighbours, Pakistan's military spokesperson said on Friday.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made the comment while addressing a press conference here.

Responding to a question, Chaudhry said, "I can confirm that no direct communication has taken place between the national security advisers of Pakistan and India."

When a journalist pointed out that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had claimed such contact had occurred, Chaudhry denied it, saying that any indirect communication falls under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is better positioned to comment on diplomatic efforts.

The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday cancelled all kinds of forthcoming leaves of officials in 13 departments including the Home and Health and Medical Education in view of the India-Pakistan military conflict. "In view of the unprecedented situation, the state government has restricted all kinds of forthcoming leaves of the entire government staff working in 13 departments with immediate effect till further orders," said an order issued by the general administration department

Indo-Pak conflict: Blackout clamped in entire Kutch, parts of two Gujarat districts

A blackout was enforced in Kutch and parts of Banaskantha and Patan districts of Gujarat on Friday night in view of the military standoff between India and Pakistan, officials said. While the blackout measure was implemented in the entire Kutch district, power supply has been cut off in some bordering areas of Banaskantha and Patan districts, which are close to the Indo-Pak border, they said.

Drone attacks on several installations, including Srinagar airport and south Kashmir's Awantipora air base, were thwarted late on Friday, officials said.

The attacks came a day after India scuppered attempts by the Pakistan military to hit Indian military installations with drones and missiles, they said.

Drones have been sighted at 26 locations from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, along the International Border and the Line of Control, officials said.

Locations where these sightings were made, include Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.

A drone was noticed flying over the Srinagar airport at around 9 pm, prompting a blackout to neutralise the attack, officials said.

Drones have been sighted at some locations ranging near the International Border and the Line of Control with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones posing potential threats to civilian and military targets.

Regrettably, an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in severe injuries to members of a local family. The injured have been provided medical assistance and the area has been sanitised by security forces.

The Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a high state of alert, and all such aerial threats are being tracked and engaged using counter-drone systems. The situation is under close and constant watch, and prompt action is being taken wherever necessary.

Citizens, especially in border areas, are advised to remain indoors, limit unnecessary movement, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. While there is no need for panic, heightened vigilance and precaution are essential.
