Two people working at Shiva Petrol Bunk in Kittur near the Kittur-Dharwad border were stabbed to death by assailants in the early hours of Wednesday. The assailants also made away with the cash kept in the office drawer.
Police said Manjunath Pattanshetty (28), a resident of Lingadalli village in Kittur, and Mustaq Beedi (30), a resident of Tigadolli village in Kittur, were on night shift at the petrol bunk when they were killed.
The body of one of the deceased was found near the fuel dispenser while that of the other was inside the office. Kittur and Dharwad police officials visited the spot.
Kittur police have registered a case.
