3.4-magnitude earthquake hits Karnataka's Kalaburagi

A villager said that a house developed cracks and that the tremors were caused by processes arising out of cement manufacturing

Tremors felt in villages in Sedam taluk

An earthquake measuring 3.4 on Richter scale was recorded in Karnataka;s Kalaburagi district. Tremors were felt in Benakanahalli, Donagaon, Kodla, Rajoli and surrounding villages of Sedam taluk between 9:48 and 10:00 am on Wednesday as panicked residents rushed out of their homes.

Speaking to DH, Benakanahalli villager Hanumant said that a house has developed cracks due to the tremors and that these tremors were caused due to fire and explosion hazards that arise during the process of cement manufacturing.

The cement manufacturing unit is situated adjacent to the village.
