Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa reiterated on Wednesday that his party would not move the no-confidence motion against the government.

He contradicted his party colleague B Sriramulu’s claims, saying that the BJP would not seek the Governor’s intervention. Noting that the government was unfit to continue, as it lacked the majority, Yeddyurappa however said that his party would not try to topple the government.

“The BJP will neither move the no confidence motion nor will we approach the Governor. We don’t have to do anything. The government will collapse on its own, given the continued bickering among the MLAs. I have learnt that 10 to 12 MLAs have not attended the session,” he said.

Yeddyurappa said this proved that the government did not enjoy the majority.

“During their stay in the Eagleton Resort at Bidadi, more than 20 Congress MLAs openly said they can’t accept Kumaraswamy as the chief minister. They are, instead, saying Siddaramaiah is the chief minister. Also, not only are they fighting among themselves, they are also seen facing off with JD(S) MLAs every day,” he said.

Yeddyurappa said his party would decide its next action during the legislature party meeting on Thursday. “We will wait and watch. For, the true state of affairs of the government will unravel on the day of the budget presentation,” he added. Earlier, Sriramulu demanded that Kumaraswamy should resign. The BJP will continue protest against the government in the House on Thursday and Friday.

“This means that the government lacks the majority. The chief minister should resign immediately. The BJP will soon meet the Governor,” Sriramulu said.
