Ailing bizman shoots himself in Belagavi

An ailing businessman committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his residence in Belagavi on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Shailesh Joshi (40), the managing director of Amrut Pharmaceuticals. He was residing at Ganeshpur in Belagavi. According to police, Joshi was suffering from liver ailment and his wife separated from him a month ago along with their two daughters. He was living with his mother in Belagavi. His watchman and driver were also staying in the same house.

In the early hours of Monday, the watchman and the driver noticed Joshi coming out of his room. However, he went into his bedroom and shot himself below the chest. On hearing the gunshot, the watchman and driver rushed to Joshi’s room only to find him in a pool of blood. Senior police officers visited the house and seized the revolver. Camp police have registered a case.
