All India Co-op Week from tomorrow

Various cooperative institutions in Dakshina Kannada district will observe the 65th All India Co-operative Week from November 14 to 20.

Addressing media persons at Dakshina Kannada Milk Union Ltd Dairy at Kulshekhar, Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union President Harish Acharya said the theme of this year’s Cooperative Week is ‘Inclusive Growth and Good Governance through Co-operatives for Rural Prosperity.’

The Co-operative Week will be observed under the aegis of Karnataka State Cooperative Federation, Bengaluru.

Acharya said that each day in the Cooperative Week will be devoted to a sub theme.

On the inaugural day on November 14, the deliberations will focus on ‘Cooperative Marketing, Processing and Storage’. The inauguration function to be held at DKMUL premises in Kulshekhar will be presided over by Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath. SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendrakumar, District In-charge Minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, Campco president S R Satishchandra, Karnataka Milk Federation managing director Rakesh Singh and others will take part.

The second day will be based on ‘Organic Farming and the Role of Cooperative Organisations in Zero Investment Farming’ at Sri Guru Narayana Sabha Bhavana, Belthangady, on November 15.

The third day is devoted to the theme ‘Value Addition through Cooperative Organisations and Brand Building’ and will be held at Mudipu auditorium, Mudipu, on November 16.

The fourth day will be held at Giridarshini Sabha Bhavana, Ambatedka, Sullia, on ‘Public and Private Partnership in Cooperative Sector’ on November 17.

The programme on November 18 will be held at Savanuru Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society, Savanuru. The topic will be ‘Creating Awareness on Government Schemes and Revenue Generation’.

On November 19, the programme will be held at Cooperative Agricultural Society, Beluvai. The theme will be ‘Cooperative Societies for Youth and Women’. The valedictory programme and ‘Sahakara Sapthaha Samavesha’ will be held at Utkrustha Sahakari Soudha, SCDCC office premises on November 20 at 11 am.

Before the formal programme, a ‘Sahakari Nadige’ rally will be taken out from the premises of Sri Ramakrishna Credit cooperative society Ltd, Bunts hostel to SCDCC Bank premises at 10 am. The rally will be flagged off by Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha president Maladi Ajit Kumar Rai. The convention at SCDCC Bank will be inaugurated by bank chairman M N Rajendrakumar. District Cooperative Union president Harish Acharya will preside over the programme. Campco chairman S R Satishchandra and DKMUL chairman K Raviraj Hegde will participate.

Acharya said that cultural programmes during the Cooperative Week have been have been cancelled following the demise of Union minister Ananth Kumar.

DKMUL president K Raviraj Hegde, DKMUL Director Kaup Diwakar Shetty, Managing Director B V Satyanarayana, CEO Purushottama, Manager (Marketing) Jayadevappa and Dairy Manager Shivashankara Swamy were present.
