AP police take five into custody

Police attached to Rajamundry police station on Tuesday took five of the 29 members of the notorious Trichy gang into custoday.

Sources said prime accused to the fifth accused in the case have been taken by Rajamundry police in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state.

The gang adept in attention diversion and making away with cash from reputed banks was arrested by CCB police here a few months ago.

They had decamped with Rs 23.5 lakh cash from Karnataka Bank on D Devaraj Urs road. 

The gang had confessed to many such incidents in other places including Rajamundry.  On December 23, a court here had rejected the bail plea filed by all the accused, which was the second attempt made by the gang to secure bail.
