Ballari violence | Congress fact-finding committee to submit report in 3 days

The Congress fact-finding committee, led by veteran leader H M Revanna, to uncover the truth behind the group clash that led to the death of a party worker, on Saturday received mixed reactions from the partymen.

A section of Congress leaders blamed both the sides for the violent group clash, while a few party leaders are believed to have told the committee that it was MLA Nara Bharath Reddy and his aide Satish Reddy who escalated the situation.

The KPCC committee, comprising former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Challakere MLA Raghumurthy, MP Kumar Nayak, MLCs Jakkappanavar and Basanagouda Badarli, collected the information from the party workers, those connected to the incident and the senior police officials.

They called MLAs Bharath Reddy and J N Ganesh separately and took their views on the incident.

Revanna told reporters, “Following the instructions of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president, also the deputy chief minister, D K Shivakumar, we collected information from the elected representatives, police officials and eyewitnesses on the Thursday night clash.

We will submit a report to the government within three days. We will not reveal the report to the media. The government will make the report public.The government and the party will provide compensation to the family members of the deceased youth.”

Meanwhile, Ballari in-charge minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan on Saturday visited the family of the youth, a Congress worker, killed in the clash He provided a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the kin and assured them of providing a house from Slum Board.
