Basavaraj Devaru of Revanasiddeshwar Mutt at Mansur opined that two more mutts should be added to eight mutts at Krishna temple at Udupi, dedicated to Kanakadasa and Golla community respectively.

"Kanakadasa was insulted in Udupi, and that torture has continued even today, and the case of Shirur seer is an example for that. Kanakdasa statue should be installed inside the sanctum sanctorum of Krishna temple," he said.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, he stated that Karnataka University Dharwad should be named after Kanakadasa, and an announcement in this regard should be made during the forthcoming Kanaka Jayanti, failing which a struggle would be launched.

Some persons are wrongly saying that Sangolli Rayanna and Hakka-Bukka are not from Kuruba community. We challenge them to prove their argument and we are also ready for discussion with them, he said.

Former minister G Janardhana Reddy's remark about the death of former chief minister Siddaramaiah's son has insulted Kuruba community. Reddy is cruel and he is a dacoit. He should understand that he also has a family, and what if others use the same words when some undesirable incident happens in his family, Devaru noted.

Revanasiddeshwar Mutt would celebrate Kanaka Jayanti in Dharwad from November 24 to 28, while Kanaka awards would be presented to achievers. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, former chief minister Siddaramaiah and others would be the guests at the valedictory, he added.
