<p>Thirteen people from the City, all relatives, were injured in a road accident at Devihalli on National Highway 48, off Bellur Cross, in Mandya district, late Saturday night. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Fourteen people from an extended family were on a weekend pilgrimage to Dharmasthala and had left Moodalapalya in the City in a hired van around 10 pm. A KSRTC bus hit their van around midnight while trying to overtake from the right. <br />According to Pradeep, a member of the family, the van driver, Mahesh, took a steep left turn to avoid colliding with the bus. <br /><br />“As the driver took a steep left turn, the vehicle rammed into the road median. <br />The impact of the collision was such that the van fell on its side on the other side of the median,” Pradeep said. <br /><br />The injured<br /><br />Thirteen people sustained injuries. They have been identified as: Indira, 45, Mamatha, 20, Pradeep, 29, Latha, 45, Nagaraj, 55, Shruthi, 26, Bhuvaneshwari, 45, Prasanna, 18, Manjunath, 59, Suvarna, 38, Renuka, 50, Kamalamma, 60 and Venugopal, 29. <br /><br />They have been admitted in various hospitals. Some of them have suffered rib fractures. Pradeep said a some of them escaped the accident unscathed. <br />He said that a three-year-old boy of the family, Yashas Kumar and the tempo driver did not suffer any injuries. <br /> <br /> The KSRTC bus sped away after the accident. Passers-by rescued the injured from the van and rushed them to the nearby Adichunchanagiri Hospital, where they were given first aid, before they were shifted to hospitals in the City on Sunday morning. <br />A case has been registered at the Bellur police station.<br /><br /></p>
