<p>Bengaluru: In March 2024, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) wrote to the Department of Commerce and Industries, requesting to hand over 45 acres and 5 guntas of land in Hebbal for the purpose of building a depot, multi-level parking, and multi-modal hub, among others.</p>.<p>The BMRCL also offered to pay Rs 551.15 crore for the land, which is in the custody of the Karnataka Industries Area Development Board (KIADB). </p>.<p>So far, the KIADB has not taken a decision on transferring the land, which is delaying Namma Metro's various projects. </p>.Bengaluru to Chennai in half hr? The ministers reportedly instructed the officials to compensate the Lake View Tourism Corporation, a private entity, for whom the land was acquired about two decades ago. </p>.<p>But the officials had no courage to follow the oral instructions as the private entity for whom the land was acquired had not paid the compensation amount to the land losers in the last 20 years. Sources said the land losers continue to visit the KIADB office even today, but the compensation remains elusive.</p>.<p>What's more, on two occasions, part of KIADB land was transferred to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Namma Metro for different projects. The compensation was paid to the KIADB directly.</p>.<p>In the meanwhile, the BJP government had extended the proposal of Lakeview Tourism Corporation by three years, which will lapse in March 2026. This controversial order was passed just before the state elections. </p>.<p>To settle the matter, Shivakumar and Patil are expected to meet on Friday. </p>
