The Soladevanahalli police have taken realtor Rajesh Gowda into four-day custody over the sensational murder of a lawyer from Nelamangala.

The advocate, Amit Keshavamurthy, was found with Rajesh’s wife in a car near Hesaraghatta in northern Bengaluru at the time of the incident on Friday.

Rajesh and his father Gopalakrishna were arrested after they shot Amit dead. Rajesh suspected his wife Shruthi, a panchayat development officer (PDO), of having an affair with Amit.

A senior police officer said, “Initially, it was not certain as to who opened the fire as both Rajesh and his father claimed responsibility. But during investigation, Rajesh confessed to having shot at Amit. He has been remanded in four-day police custody, while Gopalakrishna has been sent to judicial custody. The revolver and documents pertaining to it have been sent for examination to ascertain if it was a licensed revolver. Rajesh’s car driver was also questioned and vital information has been gathered.”

“During interrogation, Rajesh said he and Shruthi were leading a happy life till she met Amit in connection with official work. We realised she spent a lot of time with Amit. The matter was taken up with Shruthi’s parents and they had warned her. Despite that she used to meet Amit clandestinely,” the officer said.

“Rajesh used to get information about their frequent meetings. So he decided to fit GPS in the engine of her car. On Friday too, she told Rajesh she was going to Nelamangala for a meeting. But when he checked the GPS, it showed the location as Hesaraghatta,” sources said.
