<p>Giving priority to pedestrians, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to beautify pavements.</p>.<p>Beginning this week, the civic body will focus on the high-density corridors or major roads of the city to make them pedestrians and commuter friendly.</p>.<p>The civic body has taken up various works such as lane markings, kerb paintings, fixing broken or missing tiles on the footpaths, proper functioning of street lights, regular sweeping of roads, using of mechanical sweeping machines, beautification of junctions and maidens and restoring missing grills, removing tree branches and illegal OFC cables.</p>.<p>Speaking to DH, Prasad said: “High-density corridors, which are the face of our city, should be visually aesthetic and safe for pedestrians and the commuters. To make sure that this area has adequate amenities, we will take up the beautification of the city roads.”</p>.<p>The commissioner also plans to inspect the work every week.</p>.<p>As part of the drive, the BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad accompanied by senior Palike officials visited KG Road, Chalukya Hotel Circle, Raj Bhavan Road, Queens Road, Minsk Square, Race Course Road, Shivananda Circle, Kumara Park, Mekhri Circle and near Esteem mall on Monday night.</p>.<p>The commissioner has given 15 days time to the officials to complete the work.</p>
