<p>Bengaluru: The BBMP has decided to transfer all its borewells to the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), which is responsible for supplying drinking water to the city.</p><p>In addition, the BBMP will hand over its Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants to the BWSSB, as the water board already operates its own lab to check water quality, said Tushar Girinath, BBMP Chief Commissioner, on Monday.</p><p>Speaking to reporters, Girinath explained that the decision was made ahead of the summer season, as the BWSSB has a comprehensive understanding of Bengaluru's water situation. "The funds we receive from the Centre for water-related projects will also be shared with the BWSSB," he added.</p>.BBMP to deliver 23L draft khatas to property owners’ doorsteps .<p>Girinath also mentioned that the BBMP will stop providing grants for the digging of additional borewells, noting that the BWSSB has already rolled out Stage 5 of the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme.</p><p>"In future, the BWSSB will take over the responsibility of digging borewells in new areas where there is no piped water supply, if necessary," he concluded.</p>
