<p>The summer collection at the Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) showcases the soft cotton and khadi in a new avatar. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Stylish and colourful, the saris and dress materials are designed to beat the heat. The special exhibition of the collection for both men and women will be on till June 3 at the CCIE on M G Road. <br /><br />A unique collection of saris from different parts of the country is being showcased. <br />Mangalagiri saris with Nizam border from Andhra Pradesh, bagru, indigo and block-printed saris from Rajasthan; tangail, kantha and dhakai from West Bengal; chanderi print from Madhya Pradesh, Orissa cotton and ikkat print from Orissa and many more are on sale and priced reasonably.<br /><br />“The saris are specially woven by a master weaver along with the designer group of the CCIE. We have put in nearly three months of effort for this expo. <br /><br />These costumes are ideal for summer as the materials are light and summery,” says Rukmini, one of the managers of the emporium. The emporium also showcases a variety of products like matka silk saris with zari border. <br /><br />Along with the summer collection, the CCIE is also offering a special discount of 15 per cent on select clothes. “We are yet to see the reaction of the customers. The collection was launched on May 23 and many customers have visited the store,” adds Rukmini.<br /><br />The collection also has a host of materials which are apt for summer like ikkat print, batik print, kalamkari etc. All these have been priced moderately so as to promote the weavers of the country. The CCIE has brought all the various forms of arts, crafts and apparel of India under one roof. <br /><br />In addition to the summer wear, the CCIE centre will also retail other handicraft, handloom and fashion goods as well as accessories. <br /><br />The CCIE is the leading source of income for Indian handicraftsmen. These products are created by skilled artists. Many products made by the artists like furnishings, jewellery, accessories, objects for home or office are on display.</p>
