<p>Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly created an Instagram account and posted videos of women traveling on the metro, recorded without their consent.</p><p>The suspect has been identified as Diganth, a resident of Thilgalarapalya in North Bengaluru, where he lives with his family. He is originally from Holenarasipura in Hassan district. He is a commerce graduate and works in the accounts department at a private company in Murugeshpalya.</p>.FIR registered after Instagram account shares videos of women on Bengaluru Metro.<p>Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Division, told DH that he was arrested from his home on Friday afternoon.</p><p>The suspect allegedly created an account on Instagram by the name metro_chicks and had posted 13 voyeuristic videos of women till May 20. The page had over 5,900 followers. The incident came to light after several social media users shared the profile and called for immediate action against the user.</p><p>According to an officer who oversaw the investigations, the suspect traveled by metro every day from Peenya to Indiranagar for work and took voyeuristic videos of women during his commute. “He posted those videos on Instagram and also in a Telegram channel. We are scrutinising his digital devices for more details,” the officer said.</p>.Technical glitch disrupts metro services on Purple Line for over four hours .<p>During the interrogation, Diganth claimed that he had been posting videos since March of this year, but this is yet to be established by the police. For now, police have only found videos that he had posted on social media, but they are scanning his devices for more information.</p><p>Police interrogated Diganth to know why he has been posting such content to which he failed to answer and cops suspect that his actions are a result of his voyeuristic mindset but the investigations are being continued in the case. All videos that were posted on both platforms have been taken down by the service providers.</p><p>An officer from Banashankari police station said that the DCP Jagalasar had directed them to take up a suo motu on May 20 afternoon as no FIR was filed till then and none had come forward to register a complaint.</p><p>Soon after that, an FIR was filed by Banashankari police under BNS Section 78 (stalking) and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act.</p><p>Investigators also contacted the social media platforms seeking information about the account. The investigations were purely technical, according to the police.</p>
