Candle-light vigil for victims

Members of a group called “India Solidarity with Japan” observed silence and rendered Japanese songs to convey their sympathy to the victims. John Devaraj and Japanese national Mioi Nakayama, attached to the organisation, said they were deeply saddened by the disaster and expressed their sympathy for the people of Japan.

Their songs reflected the pain for the thousands killed in the tsunami, even as Nakayama recalled her efforts to get in touch with her loved ones back home.

The activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) also paid glowing tributes to the Japanese who lost their lives.

Led by the Morcha’s national secretary Mohan Reddy and city president of the outfit Manjunath, around 35 activists held a candle-light condolence meeting and observed two minutes’ silence and prayed for the disaster-hit country.

Later, Mohan Reddy told reporters that the youth in India are always ready to help in rebuilding the devastated country.
