These were some of the observations made at a function to release P Mahamud’s collection of cartoons published in Deccan Herald and Sudha magazine, in the City on Thursday. <br /><br />Padubidri Mahamud, the cartoonist working for the Prajavani-Deccan Herald group, is known for his hard hitting cartoons, especially against those in power. He said his works reflected his gentle anger against the establishment. <br /><br />Mahamud, recollecting how he struggled to make a career in the chosen field, said he was a college dropout and did a correspondence course in art from M T V Acharya School. He said after he joined Prajavani, he got a big boost to his career as his works were seen by people across the State. <br /><br />Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, who released the book published by Chintana Pustaka, sarcastically said there couldn’t be a better place than Karnataka for cartoonists. “I really appreciate Mahamud. It is not easy to maintain the tempo which he has been maintaining for long,” he said.</p>
