The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths raided a house in Hanumanthanagar and arrested two persons for manufacturing illicit/adulterated pesticide using aluminium phosphide.

While arresting Rakesh and P V Harinath, the police also seized around 240 tonnes of adulterated pesticides, labels, empty cans, and aluminium tubes along with sealing and packing machines and tools from the house.

The raid followed a tip-off from an informer that suspicious activity was observed at a house in Mount Joy Extension in Hanumanthanagar.

Located in a residential area, the house was turned into a manufacturing unit for the pesticides. The sleuths registered two cases at the Hanumanthanagar and Basavanagudi police stations.

Further inquiries revealed that Rakesh and Harinath sold the pesticides in the name of various reputed company and brands available in the market.

A company located in Yelahanka has also been made party to the case as they supplied aluminium tubes and cans to pack the adulterated pesticides, the police said.
