Consider Bangalore Club's plea for spl licence: HC to govt

The High Court on Tuesday directed the State government to consider the application by Bangalore Club for special licence (CL-6).

Hearing a petition by the Club challenging the cancellation of is excise licence, Justice H G Ramesh said that the temporary licence could be considered for the club. Accordingly, the Club will be applying for special licence and the government should consider the application expeditiously.

In another petition filed by the Club challenging the State government’s notice to it on the ownership of the land, Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna submitted before the High Court that no coercive steps would be taken against the Club until the next date of hearing. The AAG reiterated that the Club was an association of persons and hence had no locs standi to file the petition. Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan adjourned the matter.
