The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is yet to get written orders on alloting its flats on a priority basis to those who lost their houses in the recent demolition by the BBMP.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reiterated that those who lost their homes during the demolition drive to clear encroachment of stormwater drains would get flats. An official in the BDA said that they are unaware of the chief minister’s decision. “We are yet to receive the government order to allot flats to those who lost their homes. No written directions have come to us. There are sufficient flats with us. But no flats in Kempegowda Layout or homes in the upcoming villas will be given,” the official asserted.

During the demolition drive, the BBMP has  claimed to have razed 220 encroachments and is preparing to raze 900 more. These include homes and commercial establishments and recovery of sites. The drive is likely to commence in the next few days.
