Bengaluru: All Baiyappanahalli-bound trains, except for two, are currently being handled only on Platform 2 at the Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, which is undergoing a Rs 485-crore redevelopment, according to the South Western Railway (SWR).
.
Bengaluru Cantonment, Karnataka's oldest railway station, handles 58 mail/express and 37 passenger trains. As part of the redevelopment plan, the station will receive multi-level parking, new station buildings, air concourse, and other modern amenities.
.
Due to the redevelopment, all trains heading towards Baiyappanahalli from Bengaluru Cantonment now operate from Platform 2, which can be accessed through Terminal 2 (the back entrance on Miller’s Road).
.Residents of Bengaluru's Bellandur Kodi, Sakra Hospital area protest dug-up roads.
However, the Madurai Vande Bharat (train 20671/2) and the Coimbatore Vande Bharat (20641/2) are handled from the newly constructed platforms 1A to 1E, located at the end of Platform 1 on the Cantonment Road/Shivajinagar side.
.
Passengers arriving by bus are to get down at the Cantonment bus stop on the main entrance (Terminal 1) on the Platform 1 side. From there, they can walk through Platform 1 to reach Platforms 1A to 1E. They can also use the temporary entrance at Terminal 1, which allows direct access to Platforms 1A to 1E, within a 100-metre walk.
.
For all other trains, passengers should enter through Terminal 2 (the back gate). If they mistakenly enter the wrong terminal, they can use the foot overbridge (FOB) to switch platforms (or terminals).
.
Due to ongoing construction, parking is not available at Terminal 2 (platform 2 side). Passengers requiring parking should proceed to Terminal 1.
.
Terminal 1 (main entrance, Cantonment Road) has one passenger reservation counter and four unreserved ticket counters. Terminal 2 (back entrance, Miller's Road) has two unreserved ticket counters and one Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM), the SWR said.
