In a serial accident, a generator vehicle used for film shoots, hit six vehicles leaving one person dead and six others injured at Kottigepalya near Magadi Road on Wednesday night.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Nagaraj, 52, a resident of Kaveripuram in Kamakshipalya and a printing press worker. Around 8.45 pm, the driver of the generator vehicle which was going towards Magadi Road, lost control of the vehicle as the road was steep, and hit four cars, two mini goods vehicles and two bikes and came to a halt. The passersby informed the Kamakshipalya traffic police, who visited the spot and shifted the injured to Lakshmi Hospital near Sunkadkatte. Nagaraj was declared brought dead while Ravi Kumar, 30, who suffered head injuries, is in a critical condition. The rest of them sustained minor injuries, said the police.

A senior police officer, who visited the spot, said, “The generator vehicle is used for film shooting. The driver is absconding while the vehicle has been seized. He was driving down a steep road and lost control and hit the other moving vehicles. Nagaraj and Kumar were on two different bikes and were hit by the vehicle, which was moving at top speed. The rest of the people sustained minor injuries and are out of danger.

“It is suspected that the accident occurred due to a brake failure but it can be confirmed only after the vehicle is examined. Efforts are on to trace the owner and the driver of the vehicle,” added the officer. Kamakshipalya traffic police have registered a case.
