<p>Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) said the government has promised to provide Rs 80 crore to address the fund crunch for rejuvenating Bellandur Lake.</p>.<p>Desilting work will resume once the weather permits.</p>.<p>Directed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to complete desilting and rejuvenation by early 2020, later extended to 2021, the BDA has blamed Bengaluru's prolonged rainy season for the delay.</p>.<p>A crucial five-month window between December 2024 and April 2025 was lost due to lack of funds. The early onset of monsoon stalled the work, with the authority likely to wait until the silt dries.</p>.<p>In documents submitted in the first week of June, the BDA said the government had cleared funding for the remaining work.</p>.<p>"The answering department is facing a shortage of funds for completion of the works. In this regard, it is submitted that the Government of Karnataka has communicated its approval for the additional grant of Rs 79.67 crore with a condition that 'the funding may be borne by the government and the BDA in proportion of 75:25. The BDA may bear out its own revenues, including lake cess'," it said.</p>.<p>Progress records show desilting and silt disposal are the main tasks holding up the rejuvenation, particularly at the main inlet, Iblur inlet, and HAL inlet wetlands.</p>
