Inculcating the habit of quizzing and the need to know the legacy of India’s rich past, INTACH or Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage and Xpress Minds Edutainment organised the INTACH India Heritage Quiz 2015.

The second edition’s New Delhi round hosted by author, quiz master and TV show host Kunal Savarkar saw 450 students of Classes 7 to 10 from more than 75 schools of Delhi competing for the entry to the next round being the semi finals. Following a written round of 20 questions, the girls’ duo from Delhi were declared the winners at India International Centre (IIC) Annexe. The Class 10 students, Riva Mehta and Ojasvini Bali from Convent of Jesus and Mary (CJM) came up trumps against other teams with a comfortable margin. They managed to outperform seven other teams in the final Delhi-Haryana round.

The top four teams from the New Delhi round joined the teams from Gurgaon, Faridabad, Mahendragarh and Panipat in the Delhi-Haryana Zonal Final in a well-fought zonal event.
Whilst the answer sheets of the New Delhi round were being evaluated, the Western UP and Uttarakhand Zonal Final was conducted which had teams from Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Dehradun, Greater Noida, Noida, Meerut and Ghaziabad. The Western UP and Uttarakhand Zonal Final was won by the team from Bal Bharati, Brij Vihar (Ghaziabad) comprising Nandini Goel and Sagnik Sarkar.

The Zonal Finals featured various interesting rounds that used the ‘pounce and bounce format’, visual stills and differential scoring to excite and tease the students. Bal Bharati, Brij Vihar and CJM, New Delhi go on to the national semi-finals which will be aired later this month.

Last year, this programmeS saw a direct participation of 10,000 students from 1,245 schools across 100 cities from all states and union territories.Being conducted by over 45 quiz masters from Srinagar to Kanyakumari, Jamnagar to Itanagar and even Port Blair, the national finals will be telecast on DD Bharati.

Established in 1984, INTACH is known to be one of its kind organisation working to document, preserve and conserve India’s rich culture and heritage — both tangible as well as intangible. The quiz series is a part of its 30th anniversary commemoration.
