This may be Girish Kumar Taurani’s first appearance on the big screen but the young man has been familiar with the nuances of film production since he was a child. Son of producer Kumar Taurani, Girish is the first from the family to be in front of the camera. The young man is in good hands for his debut film Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya, which is directed by actor-director Prabhu Deva.

In a chat with Metrolife, Girish says, “I started training for the film, especially working on the dance moves with Prabhu sir, two years prior to the shooting of the film. I know the basics of kathak and that helped me pick up the steps really fast. I must say that Prabhu was extremely patient with me.”
Girish thinks a good working relationship with his co-stars on and off screen helps a great deal in the making of a film. “What happens off the screen will definitely reflect on screen. I am working with a team of thorough professionals who don’t throw tantrums but remain humble. That in itself is an inspiration for me,” he confesses.
Girish says that he has great regard and admiration for Amitabh Bachchan.

“He came from a humble background and even today, remains one of the most sought-after actors. People never tire of watching him.
I would also like to spend some time with him, listening to all his experiences and learning from them,” he says.
Girish had to train really hard to shed extra kilos and get into shape.

“I was always fit but I had to give up a lot of things that I liked and train twice a day. But I guess when you want to achieve something, everything else becomes irrelevant,” he says.

The film industry has its fair share of gossip and Girish is aware of such things. But he’s firm about not mixing his personal and professional life.

“Actors must be entitled to their personal space. Some people may be more vocal about their personal life but I would like people to accept me for my work rather than anything else,” he signs off.
