The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered notices to the state government and the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB)  in a petition filed by Shahi Exports Private Limited seeking quashing of the notice issued to them by KSPCB to close down their unit on Bannerghatta Road.

KSPCB has issued a notice on the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) which has directed them to close down all the industries which are letting out untreated effluents into the Bellandur lake. The petitioner has also challenged the order of the NGT.

The high court had previously stayed the further proceedings of the NGT-New Delhi with regard to a petition filed in NGT pertaining to the pollution of Bellandur lake.  The petitioner had challenged the NGT - New Delhi order on the ground that it has passed the order without jurisdiction as the petition regarding pollution in Bellandur lake has to be heard by NGT in the Southern Zone bench Chennai.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar, ordered notices in the matter and adjourned the hearing to June 30.
