<p>The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has entered into a pact with Youth Hostels’ Association of India (YHAI) to construct an international youth hostel at the BMRCL’s Srigandhakaval Housing Colony, on Wednesday.<br /><br />BMRCL Managing Director N Sivasailam said the project was being taken up considering the YHAI‘s contribution in promoting international and national tourism. Impressed by facilities provided by YHAI at nominal rates, Sivasailam said: “I am hopeful that this hostel will be helpful to backpackers and budget travellers who visit Bangalore.”<br />Important destination<br /><br />YHAI national president Harish Saxena said international hostellers’ community has expressed happiness that such a facility is being created in Bangalore, which is an important destination for those who travel to India.<br /><br />YHAI national chairperson S Venkat Narayanan said the plan was to open the Bangalore International Youth Hostel in 30 days.</p>.<p>Youth Hostels’ Association of India has more than one lakh life members and 50,000 annual members spread across the country with 240 units in 22 States.<br /><br />With 80 licensee youth hostels in India, 10,000 members participate in various adventure programmes organised by the YHAI annually, which promote national integration and communal harmony, he added.<br /></p>
