<p>Briefing mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said it had been decided to allocate 408 acres of land at Khanapur, where a training centre is being proposed by the Home department. Noting that the proposal would benefit the State forces to tackle terror and naxal menace, Kageri said the State had already identified the land.<br /><br />The Cabinet also decided to set up two training centres to train officials in Panchayat Raj management, with the assistance of the Central government. The two centres to be set up in Bangalore and Dharwad will be on the lines of the Abdul Nazeer Saab Institute in Mysore. <br />The Bangalore centre will be set up at a cost of 40 crore, while the Dharwad centre will come up at a cost of 36 crore. Administrative approval was given for providing permanent drinking water facility to Y N Hoskote and 25 other villages in Pavagad taluk of Tumkur district, where water is flouride-contaminated, under the Sachetana project at a cost of Rs 11.08 crore.<br /><br />The Cabinet also took a decision to award five acres of agriculture land in Kumbalgod village of Bangalore South taluk, as compensation to Parimala Nagappa, widow of former minister H Nagappa.<br /><br />The decision is based on the recommendations of the Desai Commission. Parimala had apparently sought 10 acres to start a school. Sources said Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda would fix a ‘very nominal rate’ for the land.</p>.<p> Cabinet decisions</p>.<p>- An additional Rs one crore to be released as special grant to zilla panchayats under the Third Finance Commission.<br /><br />- A committee has been constituted under the Agriculture minister as the chairman to take decisions for the Global Agriculture Investors Meet scheduled to be held in December.<br /><br />- Rs 6 crore has been set aside for the development of the floriculture sector<br /><br />- Rs 27.66 crore has been set aside for purchase of equipment for the Mysore Medical College and Research Institute.<br /><br />- Karnataka Silk Market Board gets approval to obtain a loan of Rs 25 crore </p>
