The India Meteorological Department has forecast rain or thunder showers for the next 48 hours.
The rain could play spoilsport at the IPL final on Sunday evening when the local outfit Royal Challengers Bangalore lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
The IMD officials said that city and some parts of south interior Karnataka are experiencing rains because of a trough off the east coast. Rains coupled with thunder and lightning have been forecast for next 48 hours.
During the first qualifier between RCB and Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru on Tuesday some parts of the city witnessed heavy rainfall while the central business district experienced light drizzle.
On Friday the city had recorded 7.4 mm of rain while HAL experienced 4.3 mm of rain, as recorded at 8:30 pm by IMD.
Sudden showers brought the traffic to a standstill in central business district (CBD), in and around Majestic areas, Marathahalli, Whitefield, Electronics City, Seshadripuram junction, Malleswaram, Bannerghatta Road and surrounding areas.
The waterlogging was reported in Veerasandra Junction on Hosur road, causing traffic congestion for a while.
Tree uprooting was reported at Hulimavu near Meenakshi temple and at JP Nagar 2nd phase. A tree fell on a car at Kasavanahalli but no injuries were reported. At Iblur near HSR Layout police station, three houses in low-lying area were flooded. The Palike officials said that they have sent pumping jets to clear the water from the houses.
