<p>City-based theatre artiste B V Shrunga was awarded the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) for ‘Best Actor in a Lead Role (Male)’ for his portrayal of the lead role in Kola, an intense Kannada family drama by Theatre Tatkal.</p>.<p>An engineering graduate, Shrunga, has been in the theatre circuit since 2004. He has worked with well-known artistes like Arundati Nag, Vijay Tendulkar and S Surendranath.</p>.<p>On receiving the award, he says, “I couldn’t attend the award ceremony because I wasn’t nominated priorly and also I had another show on the same day. After the show, the play’s director announced on the stage that I won the award. That’s when I got to know the matter.”</p>.<p>Talking about his journey as an actor, he says that he is privileged to have got opportunities.</p>.<p>“After initial apprehensions from my family, they accepted my choice when they saw my performances. I feel fortunate to be associated with many big names in the field,” he concludes.</p>
