<p>Bengaluru: The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) issued a statement on Thursday, clarifying that a recent accident near an underground cable installation site at the Kanteerava Studio was caused by the motorcyclist’s intoxication, and not by negligence on the KPTCL's part.</p>.<p>The incident, which involved the motorcyclist crashing into a barricade and falling onto the main road where underground cable work was being carried out, had been misreported by some media outlets as a result of the KPTCL’s negligence.</p>.<p>The power company said both the police and eyewitnesses confirmed that the motorcyclist was riding under the influence of alcohol and was driving recklessly when the collision occurred. KPTCL further stated that the motorcyclist received immediate medical attention and was discharged after first aid. The motorcycle has been taken into custody by the Rajajinagar police.</p>.<p>The corporation, in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), is working on a 220-kV underground cable project from Peenya to Anand Rao Circle. KPTCL insisted that all necessary safety measures, including the installation of barricades around the worksite, had been implemented to ensure public safety.</p>.<p>In light of the incident, KPTCL confirmed that additional precautionary measures would be introduced at future work sites.</p>
