As many as 5,51,337 children below five years were immunised as part of the national immunisation drive of Pulse Polio, out of a target of 6.5 lakh children in the City on Sunday.

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), along with the Health Department and various other organisations, achieved 84.75 per cent success in the City.

With the help of 8,500 vaccinators, Palike installed 1,800 booths in government schools, BBMP schools, bus stands, railway stations and other establishments.

Over 310 volunteers and 256 mobile vans were also roped in for the purpose. The vaccination drive will be on round the clock at railway stations, bus stands and hospitals.

The volunteers will go door-to-door for the next three days to ensure no child is left out.
