<p>The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is planning to supply water through tankers to the areas which have not been receiving sufficient water through their regular connections. <br /><br /></p>.<p>In a move to fulfill the demand due to lack of water supply in many core areas in the City, the board will use 30 water tankers of 6,000 litres-capacity each.<br /><br />As per the BWSSB call centre records, frequent complaints have been lodged by the residents of Nagarabhavi, RT Nagar and Koramangala stating that they haven’t been receiving sufficient water supply. Similar complaints have been received from the residents of Jeevan Bima Nagar, Magadi Road, Domlur, BTM Layout and Poornaprajna Layout. <br /><br />The reason for lack of water supply in certain areas could be due to summer or due to lack of monitoring by the BWSSB, said an official from the board. Residents in need of water can call the local office of the BWSSB assistant executive engineer and book water tankers by quoting their RR numbers, which is mentioned on their monthly water bills. <br /><br />Once the tanker is booked, a payment of Rs 360 per tanker can be made to the driver, who will provide the consumer with a receipt. If a consumer books, but fails to buy the water tanker, then, Rs 360 will be added to his or her monthly water bill. T Venkataraju, engineer-in-chief, said that consumers can start booking water tankers from Monday, by contacting the local BWSSB office. <br /><br />“We have been receiving many complaints about lack of water supply, so we need to address them. We had 30 water tankers, of which only four were used on a daily basis. If people start making requests, we can supply water through tankers. Consumers need not depend on private tankers as the Board can supply safe drinking water,” he added. <br /><br />Venkataraju added that this way, they will also be able to identify reason for lack of water supply in these areas.</p>
