Spare nobody, crack down on illegal flex boards: Deputy CM to BBMP

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday directed the BBMP chief commissioner to crack down on those who have put up unauthorised flex boards and banners in the city, including around Palace Grounds.

Shivakumar, who is also the Bengaluru development minister, gave the instruction in view of a large number of flex boards and banners put up for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed office bearers of the Youth Congress, scheduled for Monday at the Palace Grounds.

He also warned those who have installed unauthorised flex boards and banners in the city, including his own partymen, to remove them immediately.

He directed BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath to impose strict penalties, including fines, if the unauthorised materials are not removed.

"The beauty of Bengaluru should not be tarnished, which is why unauthorised flex boards and banners have been banned. However, this government order has been repeatedly violated," he stated. "Action should be taken without hesitation against violators, whether they belong to our party or any other party."
