According to the police, the incident came to light when Reddy's roommates returned after their classes around 1.45 pm.

On Wednesday, though his college opened at 8.45 am, his classes began only at 9.45 am. Reddy’s friends had called him for breakfast and for the class, but he did not join them.

His friends returned after the classes around 1.45 pm and peeped through the window to find Reddy hanging. They informed the hostel warden who in turn, informed the principal and the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted his body to the B R Ambedkar Hospital for postmortem.

There was no suicide note found at the spot.

According to Reddy's roommates, Reddy kept to himself and was always on his phone. "We will inquire with his family, friends and people in contact with Reddy to ascertain the cause behind the extreme step," a police official said.
