Toddler falls off building, dies

According to police, one-and-a-half-year-old Nayana was playing in front of her house when she slipped and fell off the building.

Her father Manoj Kumar, a civil engineer, and mother Latha, a Bescom employee, were watching television while Nayana was playing with her brother Parinath when the mishap occurred.

The postmortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday morning and body handed over to the parents.

Assaulted man dies

A 31-year-old man, who sustained severe injuries after his in-laws allegedly assaulted him a couple of weeks ago, died at a hospital on Tuesday.

The dead was identified as Prabhakar, a resident of Nanjappa Garden.

According to Hennur police, Prabhakar fell in love with Sharmila (name changed) and married her recently despite stern opposition from her brothers and parents. He was working in a private firm.

Sharmila’s brother Kishore had vowed to settle scores with Prabhakar for marrying his sister against her family’s wishes. Kishore and some of his relatives attacked Prabhakar with lethal weapons and fled.

Prabhakar was shifted to a private hospital where doctors’ efforts to save him failed. He died on Tuesday morning.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
