Together against all odds

The post-graduate students, along with the language department of M S Ramaiah College of Arts and Science, celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava in a grand manner. Though the undergraduate students were busy with the exams, they didn’t let the celebrations disturb them in anyway.

The day was packed with programmes. The students and the staff together put together a wonderful show for a noble cause. The college has admitted visually-challenged students and have been addressing their concerns.

The post-graduate students of the college have also pledged to be scribes for the visually-challenged students of first PUC and write exams for them. The programme was very well organised. While the students welcomed the gathering, the ever enthusiastic staff choir of the college sang the Karnataka naada geethe. A band, comprising visually-challenged students, played the music. Several hit songs were sung by these students. The post-graduate students were also invited to dance and together, they added fervour to the event.

Swati Patel, an MBA student, says that she had a wonderful time.  “Talent has no boundary. This was proven by the show put up by the team,” she adds. The day was also packed with some fun-filled moments with some of the students presenting a mimicry.

Divya Nair, a MSc (Bio-technology) student, says, “I simply loved the songs and the mimicry which was performed by the visually-challenged students.”

The entire MSc (Genetics) class described it as the best function the college had ever seen. Even the performance was an inspiration to all.  The best part was that the event did not limit itself to the students of Karnataka alone. There were students from other states as well, which made the day more memorable.
