<p>Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) carried out towing of vehicles parked in no parking zones in the northern part of Bengaluru.</p><p>On Tuesday, the traffic police in the northeast subdivision began rounding up cars parked in no parking zones around Phoenix Mall of Asia in Byatarayanapura. This action aims to clear traffic congestion that regularly occurs in the area, especially in the evening.</p><p>The police are using their own vehicles and staff to tow cars parked near the mall, without any private interference or contract.</p><p>A police officer overseeing the activity told DH, "We have used our own vehicles manned by our staff, so nobody is hired on a contract basis. Last weekend, their focus was on two-wheelers, and a total of 30 two-wheelers were towed away.</p><p>Vehicles that could not be towed were clamped by the police. Individuals whose vehicles were towed nearby were asked to pay the fine before their vehicle was returned.</p><p>This initiative will be expanded across roads and areas in the north division shortly, a senior police officer said.</p><p>However, MN Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that towing has not been started in the city. "This is only on that road since it is a newly laid concrete road and has been notified as ‘no parking’. Visitors to the Mall of Asia are using this road and blocking free flow of traffic,” he said.</p>
