A 40-year-old woman was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at her house in Goraguntepalya on Thursday night.

The victim Rukmini, who worked as a supervisor at a garment factory and drew a salary of Rs 22,000, was a native of Madhugiri, who migrated to the city 20 years ago. The police said she was separated from her husband and lived alone.

According to the police, the incident happened on Thursday night when Rukmini had returned home from work. They suspect she was in a relationship with a man at her workplace, which had gone sour. They believe the man, whose mobile is found to be switched off, is involved in the murder.

Neighbours found Rukmini lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. Rukmini’s mother, who called her several times and did not get a response, alerted the neighbours to check on her.

The police have collected the victim’s call detail records. The RMC Yard police have taken up a case of murder and are investigating.
