A 22-year-old woman has alleged that an auto driver abused  and shoved her at Nanjappa Circle in Shanthinagar on Tuesday night when she threatened to make a complaint to the police station about overcharging.

Rachit Taneja, a social activist from Indiranagar, said she wanted to board an auto from Nanjappa Circle but the driver demanded Rs 150 for a two-km ride. Taneja said she then clicked a picture of the vehicle’s registration number on her mobile phone and told the driver she would make a complaint to the police about fleecing. This enraged the driver who abused, pushed and shoved her, the police said.

A friend of Taneja’s tried to stop the driver but he didn’t relent. Taneja alleged that the driver in question clicked her pictures and threatened to misuse them. “A non-cognizable case has been registered at the Ashok Nagar police station,” a police  officer said.
